A threat? What isn’t a threat to the USA[1]. Call it hypocrisy or terrorism[2] on the part of the USA government as Trump breaks international laws[3], blocking fundamental life supplies to the Cuban people.
How will Cuba’s 10 million people, being inhumanly deprived of energy for their basic needs of hospitals, schools, care agencies, factories, cooking home foods, living? Where is its threat?
Cuba has neither nuclear weapons nor unilaterally attacks other countries – unlike the USA. It has not threatened to annex Canada, Greenland or invade the sovereign Venezuela and Iran. The USA has attacked more countries in its short existence than any other. Trump forces many countries into USA control, using financial pressures and militarily threats. They follow its lines, quieting their differences. It has supported and continues to support death-initiating dictatorships.
The USA has tried to take over Cuba since the 1898 Spanish-American War. It occupied Cuba several times until Castro’s 1959 successful national revolution. Before that, the USA’s direct and indirect control over Cuba forced it to be a stronghold for crime and prostitution with mafia control. The USA didn’t complain about any of these 1898 to 1958 authoritarian Cuba rulers that continued to corrupt agencies and impoverish the people.
Changes under Castro have led Cuba to having a higher literacy rate[4] than the USA and higher universal health coverage[5], which also supported 3rd world countries. Against the continued USA blockades of health and educational supplies, Cuba continues to find ways to feed, educate and provide health services[6].
What is the threat? Is it simply about empire control? Is it simply the USA paranoia, intolerance and prejudice to peoples of difference? This is widespread in the USA against people of colour and other nations who don’t follow their political lines. The USA, unlike other western counterparts, has the highest intolerance of socialism. This resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans[7] and tens of millions worldwide. Hitler was more intolerant than Trump.
So where is the threat?
